JOB PURPOSE
The purpose of this job is to oversee the development, maintenance, and implementation of bicycle, pedestrian, and safety master plans. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing a consultant in development of a master plan, coordinating active transportation promotional and educational events, coordinating with advocacy partner organizations, tracking data and assigned performance measures, identify crash trends, evaluating countermeasures, coordinating activities with relevant Departments and Offices, and managing data set work flows.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Attends various training workshops, conferences, and committee and public meetings which may require meeting at night or overnight travel; records minutes of meetings as assigned.
Responsible for the tracking and implementation of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan.
Coordinates capital improvements and policy development with applicable departments including GDOT, Leisure Services, and Athens Transit.
Coordinates public education and outreach efforts to encourage safe and effective active transportation.
Tracks relevant active transportation data and compare against Department performance measures.
Leads activities of the Roadway Safety Audit Team by managing site visits, crash trends, countermeasure selection, and project delivery.
Manages transportation safety databases and programs in coordination with PD, GIO, and Fire.
Tracks, identifies, and reports safety / crash trends for all modes of transportation.
Reviews development and capital improvement plans for bicycle, pedestrian, and traffic safety infrastructure.
Conducts field surveys of roads and intersections to determine needed bicycle, pedestrian, or safety improvements.
Responds to requests/complaints from Clerk of Commission and the general public as assigned by the Traffic Engineer.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in transportation or related field with two years of professional work related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the job.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
