Please join us this summer for the ITE Georgia Section's annual Summer Seminar. This year's seminar will again be held at the King & Prince Beach & Golf Resort on St. Simons Island from Sunday, July 17th through Wednesday, July 20th.
The Georgia ITE Summer Seminar is the best annual transportation conference in Georgia (some feel the best of all ITE sections nationwide). As usual, it is packed full of great technical programs and important, relevant topics. It is also a great environment to enjoy and refresh relationships with your colleagues and family in a phenomenal beach setting. ITE Georgia section members and their guest are always welcome, as are members of other Georgia transportation-focused organizations such as WTS, ASCE, ASHE and GPA.
2011 Summer Seminar Technical Paper Competition - Call for Abstracts
As part of the Summer Seminar, we're holding a Technical Paper Competition. If you have not written a paper before, this is your chance (to win some gas money)! Don't be intimidated - consider co-writing a paper! Martin Bretherton and Keith Strickland co-wrote the winning paper for the 2011 Winter Workshop.
Judging will be led by the Section's Technical Committee. Those wishing to publish a technical paper should submit an abstract of no more than 200 words to Winter Horbal, Vice Chair of the Technical Committee, at wghorbal@foresitegroupinc.com by 5:00 PM local time Friday, May 13, 2011. Papers are due to Winter Horbal (via e-mail) by 5:00 PM local time Thursday, June 30, 2011.
The competition is open to all transportation professionals and university students. As a guideline, papers should be between 5-15 pages in length. The papers will be judged based on three criteria:
- best technically
- help promote the profession
- relevant topic for ITE membership
Monetary awards will be presented (based on whether the papers are judged worthy) as follows:
- 1st place $600
- 2nd place $300
- 3rd place $100
Checks for the winners will be presented at the Summer Seminar in St. Simons July 17-21, 2011. The 1st place winner will have the opportunity to present their paper at a future conference.
